Maria Santana Hernandez Macareno “Dona Ana” from Pendleton, Oregon died October 7th 2018, surrounded by family.
Maria was born on July 26th, 1944 in Mexquitic De Carmona, San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Daughter of Antonio Hernandez Zules and Florentina Macareno. She moved to Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico in 1956 at 12 years old. In 1966 she had her only child; Ana E. Garcia. Then in 1988 Maria moved to Pendleton, Oregon and has lived here since. From 1988 to 1991 she worked at the Harris Pine Mills, then from 1991 to 2013 she worked at Red Lion.
Maria was very kind, caring, loving. She enjoyed her time taking walks, reading, cooking, sewing, eating at buffets, but most of all she loved spending time with family. The closeness of family was very important to her. Her family was her priority, she always put them first before herself. This woman was brave, independent, strong, and a fighter who never gave up.
Maria is survived by her partner Roberto Arroyo, Daughter Ana E. Garcia, Son in law Baltazar Garcia, Granddaughter Maria E. Garcia, Granddaughter Monica L. Breshears and her husband Steven W. Breshears, and two Great Grandsons Tucker W. Breshears and Treyson B. Breshears. Maria is also survived by her siblings Izauro Hernandez, Narciso Hernandez, Maria Abraham Hernandez, Antonio Hernandez, Eusebio Hernandez.
Maria is preceded in death by both her parents; Antonio Hernandez Zules and Florentina Macareno. Maria will be forever missed.
