Alice Irene Bartlett

Alice Irene Bartlett (Roberts), age 87, of Pendleton, Oregon, passed away peacefully joining her Lord and Savior on April 12th 2024.

Born on May 26, 1936, in Hornbrook, California, Alice was the daughter of Lyle and Wilma (Sanders) Roberts. She married Joe B. Bartlett on November 6th 1954 in Pendleton, Oregon, although their paths diverged in August of 1981. Throughout her life she lived in California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona and Texas, working numerous jobs over her career. Most recently she was employed at Jackson & Eklund in McKinleyville, California taking care of staff bookkeeping and payroll services.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents Lyle and Wilma (Sanders) Roberts, her daughter Kathleen Steele (Bartlett), and her siblings James Roberts and Peggy Hubbard (Roberts).  She is survived by her sister Nora Roberts of Pendleton, Oregon, her son-in-law Charles Steele of Eureka, California, grandchildren Brandon and Jessica (Beare) Steele, Kyler and Jillian (Sullivan) Steele, great grandchildren McKenna, Ryder, Barrett, and Brynlee Steele, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A woman of unwavering faith, patriotism, and selflessness, Alice was always thinking about how she could help others. She spent a large portion of her free time volunteering at organizations such as AmeriCorps Foster Grandparent program, Relay for Life, United Way, and local schools and charities. She had a soft spot for helping children, though stern, she always supported those in need. Beyond her charitable work, Alice loved spending time with family, reading her Bible, listening to country and gospel music, nurturing her thriving garden, and collecting small tokens of kindness for others. Her legacy lives on through the selflessness she cultivated in those around her.

Services will be held at Olney Cemetery in Pendleton, Oregon, on April 20th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to AmeriCorps Senior Corps program, an organization close to Alice's heart, where she dedicated her final years working and advocating for its mission, or to the charity of your choice.
