Genevieve “Jeannie” Marie Pace

June 19, 1929 – June 3, 2017


Genevieve “Jeannie” Pace was born on June 19, 1929 in Fruita, Colorado to Carl Nichols and Grace Akers Nichols. She was raised in Colorado in the Fruita and Loma areas, were she graduated from Loma High School.  She married James E. Pace.  After his death, she moved her family to Adams in 1963 and later she moved to Pendleton.  She attended Blue Mountain Community College and graduated.   Jeannie managed the S & H Green Stamp Store, Conrad’s Mademoiselle Shop.  She was the head cook at the Helen McCune & Sunridge Middle School.


 Family was everything to Jeannie, she was a mom and grandma to many more than her own.   She enjoyed baking, canning, crocheting and sewing.   Sewing kept her busy and she loved to make quilts.  Over the last several years she made dozens and dozens of quilts she gave to family and friends.


She is survived by her children; Larry and wife Alison, Bob and wife Rosalynn, Jim and wife Judy, Cindi and husband Jack.  Thirteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her parents Carl & Ann Nichols and her paternal mother, Grace Nichols, husband Jim, son Danny, brother and sister-in-law Carl Jr. & Patti, two grandchildren, Kristopher and Tosha.


A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Burns Mortuary of Pendleton Chapel.  A luncheon will follow immediately after the service at the Vert Club Room.  Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Our heartfelt sympathy to the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time. Jeannie was a very special person to us and we loved her dearly. We have many good memories and are very thankful she and Jim will be together once again.

Good by my dear cousin Jeannie who I looked up to growing up and loved as an adult. We visited you in Pendleton a few years ago and you baked the same biscuts you baked for us when I was growing up. Yum!
