Julie A. Hackney – a Pendleton resident passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at her home.  She was 57 years old.

Julie was born April 28, 1958, to Frank and Bertha (Reed) Hackney in Pendleton, Oregon.  She was raised in Adams, Oregon, and attended St. Joseph’s Academy, St. Andrew’s School and Weston-McEwen.  She grew up and spent her life at the family residence that generations before her had owned.  Julie was a kind, loving woman and a full-time mother who devoted her life to her family.  She was always willing to sacrifice herself to help those she loved.  She was the Office Manager of Ray Dusenberry’s Satellites.  She was a member of St. Andrew’s Mission.  Julie had been battling cancer for roughly four years, but was diagnosed only two months ago.  She married Ray Dusenberry on December 23, 2015, at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, Washington. Julie loved animals, especially her dogs and horses.  She had a green thumb and spent her summers gardening and making pestos.  She also loved swimming and exploring the countryside.

Julie is survived by her husband Ray Dusenberry, her daughters Jordan Dusenberry and Jessica Sheffield, grandson Atticus Sheffield and her mother Bertha Hackney, all of Adams, Oregon, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father Frank Hackney and a sister, Teresa Hackney.

Julie Hackney was a very close cousin to me and I am grateful to have been able to grow up knowing her, and feeling her love and support throughout all the years. She was a very important member of our family and will be greatly missed. We were always laughing and joking together when ever we visited. She meant so much more to everyone that knew and loved her, than words can express. She was always so beautiful and I admired her so much. I'm glad that she had all the years she did to spend everyday with her family: her loving spouse Ray, watching her beautiful daughters Jessica and Jordan grow up, being so close to her mother Bertha and sister Theresa, and getting to extend her family with the addition of her son-in-law Dusty, and the birth of her grandson Atticus. My heart goes out to everyone that is hurting for this loss, as it is too soon, as it was for her sister Theresa. Two great losses that will be bringing us all together again to support each other in the time of prayer and mourning.

Julie I love you so much!

We were so sad to learn of Julie's death. We have fond memories of Julie growing up - stopping by to visit her Dad at the shop. We will keep Bertha in our prayers.
