Donna June Black

June 6, 1921-June 29, 2015

Donna June Black, 94, passed away June 29, 2015, at a care facility in Pendleton, Ore. There will be no funeral. A memorial service is being planned for sometime in October.

Mrs. Black was born in Fort Collins, Colo., on June 6, 1921, to R.G. and Berniece Sanky Brown. She grew up in the Fort Collins area and graduated from Cashe La Poudre High School in La Port, Colo., in 1941.

On November 20, 1941, she married James E. Black in Fort Collins, Colo. In 1947 the family moved to Oregon, and in 1957 they settled permanently in Pilot Rock, Ore., where she and her husband lived the rest of their lives.

Mrs. Black worked at St. Anthony Hospital as a seamstress from 1965 until her retirement in 1986. She was an accomplished seamstress, made specialty cakes for all family events, crocheted dozens of afghans for family and friends, and was an avid reader. But her greatest joy came from being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Mrs. Black is survived by her four children: Amanda and Ernie Dumond, Pilot Rock, James M. and Sherry Black, Pilot Rock, Glenn R. Black and Debra Ivanoff, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Mildred and Jay Wardle, Burley, Idaho; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donna Black was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Black; parents Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Brown; three brothers, Roy, Ralph and Ray Brown; son-in-law Ben Weinke; and daughters-in-law Andrea Black and Arlene Black.
