Forrest Leroy Baker, Jr.

August 28, 1932 – February 10, 2015


Forrest Leroy Baker, Jr. – a Pendleton resident died Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at a local care facility.  He was 82 years old. 

Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 28, 2015, at the Pendleton Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1401 SW Goodwin Place.  Sign the online condolence book at  Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. 

Forrest was born August 28, 1932, to Forrest and Emma (Shafer) Baker in Pendleton, Oregon.  He delivered newspapers for the E.O. for many years while growing up.  He lived in Pendleton his whole life except for his Tour in the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed in Germany, and while he studying engineering for 2 years at Oregon State University.  He married Patricia Lee Larsen on September 8, 1990, in Pendleton.  He was the produce manager at Safeway for many years before changing careers, going to work at Harris Building Supply.  He worked as the manager at Harris Building Supply for 30 years, and at Tum-A-Lum Lumber for 14 years.  He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church where he dedicated his time as Church Custodian for 45 years.  Forrest enjoyed gardening in his spare time and always grew a huge garden. 

He is survived by his wife Patricia of Pendleton, children: Katherine Louise Baker Blair & husband Robert of Pendleton, Machelle Marie Baker Colligan & husband Denis of Walla Walla, WA, Diana Lynn Baker Hall & husband Sterling of Hermiston, OR, and Forrest Ray Baker & wife Kristi Wellington-Baker of Walla Walla, WA, and he was a second father to Leslie Hermon of Moses Lake, WA, brothers Guy Leslie Baker of La Mirada, CA, and Edwin Laverne Baker of Magalia, CA, grandchildren: Benjamin Joseph Blair & wife Casidy Blair of Hermiston, Kyle Alexander Blair of Pendleton, Jason Allen Carter & wife Shinae of Portland, Annelyse Katrina Baker of Walla Walla, WA, Andy Allen Hall of Denver, CO, Daniel James Hall & wife Danielle of Medford, Sterling Dean Hall of Hermiston, Garrett Hunter Hall of Hermiston, Anthony Wellington-Buttice and Nick Wellington-Buttice of Walla Walla, WA,  Taeler Ann Hermon and Tyler Ali Hermon of Mosel Lake, WA, as well as great grandchildren Beowulf Joseph Blair of Hermiston, and Kai Carter of Portland.

He was preceded in death by his parents Forrest & Emma Baker, a brother Charles Lee Baker and two sisters, Eleanor Harriett Hensley and Emma Maybelle Moore.
