Harold Price

April 27, 1936 – November 13, 2014

Harold Richard Price of Pendleton went home to the Lord early in the morning of November 13, 2014, in the loving care of family during home hospice after a short battle with Hodgkin's lymphoma.  He was 78 years old.
Harold Price was born April 27, 1936, in Greenfield, Iowa.  He was the third child, and second son, of Ruth Ellen and Ralph Edward Price.
Harold was an avid hunter and fisherman, which he credited to his country roots.  Harold was an Iowan farm boy and proud of it.  He and his brother and sisters attended Country School Harrison #9 and worked on their parents' and grandparents' farms.  After graduating from Greenfield High, Harold joined the Marine Corps in 1954 and served his country proudly in the Korean War as a radioman, receiving a Sharpshooter's Medal for Marksmanship, as well as a small bayonet wound in his left side. He attended trade school on the G.I. Bill in Kansas City, Missouri, to learn Diesel mechanics, a trade he practiced in the Northwest until his retirement in 2010 from Woodpecker Truck, Pendleton.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Edward Price and Ruth Ellen Price, and by an infant sister, Helen Ruth Price.  He is survived by his wife Sandy Price; his brother Roy Price (Linda); and by his sisters Edith Martin, Barbara Lehmer (Louis), Mary Osterloo (Duane), and Sharon Henry (Darrel); as well as his sons  Mark Price (Reta) and Mathew Price (Cheryl); his daughters Carrie Howell (Roger), Dawniel Barbour, and Angela Christman (Gary); seven grand-children; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 22nd at Helix Community Church.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Helix Community Church or St. Anthony Hospice, Pendleton, are requested. After the spring thaw, his ashes will be scattered in his favorite elk-hunting grounds in the Blue Mountains.  To send condolences, please visit www.burnsmortuary.com for their mailing address or to sign an online guestbook.  Burns Mortuary of Pendleton handled arrangements.
