Arnold Glenn Ersland Sr.
Aug. 28, 1951 - June 26, 2013

Arnold Glenn Ersland Sr. passed away on June 26, 2013 at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland Washington.

Arnie was born to Lawrence and Margrette (Chamberlin) Ersland on August 28, 1951 in Ladysmith Wisconsin.  He and his twin brother were the second and third of nine children.  As a child his family moved several times and he attended various schools.  He joined the Marine Corps and proudly served his country in Vietnam, earning several awards.  After leaving the service he married Deborah Haskins.  They had two children; Arnold Jr. and Michelle.

After a divorce he married Estella Ricketts and became step-father to her six children.  They lived in Washington and South Dakota before settling in northern Wisconsin.  After living in Wisconsin for several years they moved to the Pendleton area nearly fifteen years ago.  Together they spent many happy hours making and selling jewelry at various trade shows.  They gathered many items of western and Native American history.   They enjoyed getting out and meeting new people; particularly at the Pendleton Farmers Market.  He loved spending time with family.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, barbeques, picnics in the snow and having coffee with good friends, always having an amusing story to tell.  He also could tell a really bad joke.  Tragically after 33 years of marriage he lost his dear wife in December of 2012.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Estella, and brothers John Ray and Stanley.  He is survived by brothers Larry, Donald, Steven, Randy, Andrew and sister Vickie; Children Arnold Jr. and Michelle, step children Donald, Steven, Kenneth, Kathy Cordy, Karen Wernlund and John.; 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 3rd, 2013, at 1:00 P.M. in the Burns Mortuary of Pendleton Chapel.  Send condolences online at  Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is handling arrangements.
