Ernest "Ernie" Anderson, a resident of Eugene, Oregon, died Friday, September 17, 2010 in a Milton Freewater, Oregon care facility. He was 83 years old. A celebration of his life and a viewing will begin Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. and will be held at the family home at 85115 Florence Rd, Eugene, Oregon 97405. Burial will be in the Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene, Oregon, at on Monday, September 27th. Memorials in his memory may be directed to the charity of your choice. You may sign the register book or send condolences at Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Anderson was born November 24, 1926 in Troy, Idaho. He was the son of Ernest A. and Helen M. Kellberg Anderson. He was raised and educated in Troy. He married Edna Kinney on June 30, 1949 in Harrisburg, Oregon. He had served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He and his wife lived for a time in Eugene, Oregon where Mr. Anderson worked as a Logger. In 1952 the family returned to the Troy, Idaho, area where he worked at the Farber's White Brick Plant, and also at farming. In 1960 they moved to Oxnard, California where he owned and operated a fleet of belly dump trucks. He had also lived and worked in West Linn, Oregon where he had worked on Highway 82 and many other construction projects in the area. He later began designing and fabricating heavy equipment, Ernie held seven patents for machinery including the Anderson Mint Grader. He had spent his retirement years in Eugene, Oregon, and came to the Pendleton area in 2008 due to his health. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family as well as hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Edna I. Anderson of Eugene, OR, his children: son Daniel D. Anderson of Ridgecrest, California, son Kenneth L. Anderson of Albany, OR, daughter Judith E. Howey of Roundup, Montana, son Roger A. Anderson of Eugene, OR, son Kerry W. Anderson of Adams, OR, and daughter LaVonne L. Hull of Eugene, OR, two sisters: Marie Grande of Ventura, California, and Lois Sethe of Seattle, Washington, two brothers: Ellis Anderson of Troy, Idaho, and John Anderson of Camrose, Alberta, Canada, 19 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents.
