Betty J. Cook, a longtime resident of Pilot Rock, died February 10, 2016, surrounded by her family at Willowbrook Terrace in Pendleton.  She was 83 years old.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Burns Mortuary of Pendleton Chapel with a luncheon to follow at the Pendleton Eagles Club.  Sign the online condolence book at www.burnsmortuary.com.  Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements.

Betty was born in Burns, Oregon, on June 27, 1932 to parents Wilbur and Julia (McKennon) Reynolds.  She attended 1st-6th grade at “The Grange School” on 395 close to the Middle Fork of the John Day River.  Betty then continued her schooling in Long Creek, Oregon, where she graduated from Long Creek High School.

Betty married the love of her life, Jack L. Cook, on July 2, 1950, in Long Creek, OR.  The family later moved to Pilot Rock, Oregon, where they raised three sons, Wayne, Dennis and Kenny.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.  Her family was the most important thing in life.

Betty worked for Kerns Furniture Factory in Pilot Rock, and the Pilot Rock School District, from which she retired.

Betty enjoyed yard saling, camping, which her and Jack were members of the Pendleton Eagles Camper Club, and spending vacations and holidays with her family.

Betty is survived by her sons Wayne (Jeane) of Pilot Rock, and Dennis (Ann) of McNary, sister Colleen (Jack) Page of Boise, ID, sister-in-law Janet (Dallas) Morris  of Stanfield and brother-in-law Gordon (Mary) Cook of Pendleton, seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, son Kenny and her parents.

The Cook family;

I am sorry for your loss, Betty was a good woman, a great mother, and I loved her sense of humor. How she and Ruth Henshaw put up with our Cub Scout group I'll never know. She will be missed.

We have so many good memories of all the camping trips together and the ball games with Jack and Betty, Wayne, Dennis and Kenny. Lobster dinners at the old Tapadera were special. We send our sympathies to the family.
