Sherri Gayle Holman
November 11, 1955 – August 3, 2015

Sherri Gayle Holman – a Pendleton resident passed away Monday, August 3, 2015, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington.  She succumbed to a spinal infection that left her paralyzed from the neck down; she made the decision that it was time to let go of all the pain she had endured for so many years, and to go on to her second life and wait for Randy to follow.  She was 59 years old.

Sherri was born in Pendleton, Oregon, to Orville and Janet Ellinger.  She was the youngest of three children.  She dated Randy in High School and they married after she graduated in the fall of 1973.  She worked for the district attorney’s office and the juvenile center in Pendleton, and then for a private law firm in Pasco, Washington, before returning to Pendleton and working for EOCI as the legal librarian until she retired at age 55.  She enjoyed her summers in Pendleton, traveling in the winter to San Felipe, Baja California Norte.  Camping, boating, fishing and crabbing were some of her favorite activities.  Throw in a little side trip to a casino now and then, and she was a happy camper.  Sherri and Randy in their early years chose not to have children but nieces, nephews and her love of her cats filled that void; she spoiled them, and especially her dog Rosie, to the max!  Her mother-in-law, she joked, got more instructions on how to babysit their dog than she got to care for her grand kids!  Sherri replied, only half-joking, that her pets were much more important than those kids were.  She and Randy just spent the July 4th weekend with her sister-in-law Lisa Andrews and her husband Randy.  On the way up to their house on Birch Bay, they purchased an old 1947 Chevy pickup to re-live some of their High School days.  She was full of life and didn’t see the sudden illness coming.  She will be missed by many.

Sherri is survived by her mother Janet Rothrock, her husband of almost 42 years Randy, nephews, nieces, cousins, and her current cat Scooter.  She was preceded in death by her sister Denise Ellinger Gibbs, brother Larri Ellinger, and father Orville Ellinger.

She asked for no pity and no funeral.  Please fill a glass with your favorite beverage and toast her memory.  Contributions in memory of Sherri Holman may be made to the Pendleton Animal Welfare Shelter: PAWS, and sent in care of Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, PO Box 489, Pendleton, OR 97801.  Sign the online condolence book at www.burnsmortuary.com  Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements.

My deepest condolences to Randy and the Holman family. Sherry was a dear and long time friend, and Randy I had hopes of spending time with you both and rebuilding that friendship when I move back to Pendleton. Sherry will always be in my memories from school and after and the friendship you both have shown me will always be in my heart.

I always viewed Sheri was an energetic gal with a lot of spunk. It didn't matter if it was her giving me a hug downtown during Round-Up or "venting" about something at work. She was full of life so it makes it hard to imagine her being gone already.
I hope her family keeps all the vivid memories alive. If she was half as outgoing at home as I experienced then Sheri left a lot of good memories. My condolence for your loss. Dave Lilienthal

Words can't say how much I'm going to miss my friend of 47 years! I know she's in a better place and her pain is gone. Sherri was so many things, strong, funny, loyal and a spit fire! I will miss her everyday. Every time I saw her she told me she loved me and how much she valued our friendship and I know I was blessed to be her "next best" friend. Randy was her BEST friend. My prayers to Randy and Janet and family! I'm going to love Sherri till I see her again. You are forever in my heart Stub!

I will truly miss Sherri. She was such an inspiration to me. She was always so friendly and bubbly whenever she would come into the tanning salon. Now she is with our Lord. But I am so very thankful to have had hoer for a friend even for the short time we had to get to know each other. I will keep her family in my thoughts and prayers and will always think of her in a happy way.

Oh I really don't know what to say to the family. I know that you are all in my prayers. I will never forget the fun that my husband Randy and Sherri's husband Randy had that one night at Sloans in the hot tub, beards froze with ice and of course their hair lol. It was so much fun............not to mention the River parties on the columbia. I will never forget Larry and Denise also. Loved em all. I love you also Sherri and I will truly miss you but hey............you all now can have a little party without us in the meantime. Just know we will be there one day................we will celebrate once again
