Edna Clotele Haney

October 3, 1913 – April 29, 2013

Edna Clotele Haney - a longtime Pendleton resident, passed away Monday morning, April 29, 2013, in a Pendleton care facility.  She was 99 years old.  Viewing will be held Friday, May 3, 2013, between 12:00 noon and 7:00 PM at Burns Mortuary in Pendleton.  Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, May 4, 2103, at 2:00 PM at the Pendleton Seventh-day Adventist Church with interment to follow at Skyview Memorial Park in Pendleton.  You may send condolences online at www.burnsmortuary.com  Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. 

Edna Clotele (called Clo by her family) Peterson Haney was born in Franklin, Idaho, to Elmo and Lenna Peterson – she was the first of ten children.

Edna finished the tenth grade before she married Oscar Haney on July 11, 1931.  Over the course of 15 ½ years, they added eight children to their family.  In 1945 they joined the Seventh-day Adventist church and dedicated their life to raising their children on good, hard farm labor.

In 1959 they moved to Pendleton where their married children were living and became active members of the Pendleton Seventh-day Adventist Church.  Edna enrolled in BMCC to obtain her GED and then pursued a lifelong dream of nursing, graduating in 1965 at the age of 52.  She worked the next 20 years at St. Anthony Hospital as an LPN.

Edna was preceded in death by: daughter, Gail Jeanette (1937); granddaughter, Teresa Jolene Haney (1965); granddaughter, Melissa Kaye Haney (1968); granddaughter, Tamera Mathews (1985); daughter, Darlene Haney Devereaux (1993); son, Donald Haney (1995); husband, Oscar (1996); and son, Melvin Haney (2013).

Surviving are: son, Ron (and Ruby) Haney, Milton-Freewater, OR; son, Jerry (and Ruth) Haney, Eugene, OR; daughter-in-law, Jill Haney, Osburn, ID; daughter, Doris (and Alton) Olson, Pendleton, OR; son, Wayne (and Sharlene) Haney, Eugene, OR; plus 27 grandchildren and a multitude of great and great-great grandchildren. 

She kept our family together and strong with her dedication and love, we will miss her.
