Lucille "Lucy"  Keele - a longtime resident of Pendleton, Oregon, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2012, in Pendleton.  She was 90 years old

Lucy was born November 1, 1921, in Cedar Grove, TN, to Henry H. and Esther (Humphrey) Gregg.  She was raised there and in 1938 married the love of her life, Leslie E. Keele.  Their six children were born in Tennessee, and in 1955, the family moved to Pendleton, OR.

After her children were in school, she worked at Harris Pine Mills.  She was a member of the Pendleton Seventh-day Adventist Church. 

Lucy was a wonderful southern cook.  She enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers, loved reading and made beautiful hand-quilted quilts for her children, grandchildren and baby quilts for her fifteen great-grandchildren.  She also volunteered at Harris Jr. Academy.  The joy of her life was her family and she was deeply loved by all.

Lucy was beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She is survived by her sons: Russell (Debbie) Keele of Thousand Oaks, CA, Travis Keele of Des Moines, NM, and Dennis Keele of Pendleton, OR, her daughters: Sandra Dietz of Pendleton, OR, Marcia Rasmussen of Richland, WA, and Doris (Ron) Reimann of Pendleton, OR, her grandchildren: Kelly Dietz, Cindy Colclasure, Jimmy Rasmussen, Kara Poe, Sara Bakker, Leslie Mathison, Ti Reimann, Lisa Souza, Bethany Keele and Seth Keele, and her great-grandchildren: Casey, Maggie, Ethan, Courtney, James, Tanner, Noah, Aiden, Eli, Keiley, Dylan, Isabelle, Caden, Rylan, Sarah, Lexi, and Lacey.  She is also survived by sister, Christine Green of Pionciana, FL, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 61 years Leslie Keele, twin grandsons, her brothers Marvin, James and Max Gregg, and two sisters, Kathy and Ruth. 

At Lucy’s instructions, there will not be a funeral.  A private family burial will be held at Skyview Memorial Park.  Memorial contributions may be made to Harris Jr. Academy in Pendleton (or to a charity of the donor’s choice) and may be sent care of Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, PO Box 489, Pendleton, OR 97801.  Sign the online condolence book at www.burnsmortuary.com  Burns Mortuary of Pendleton handled arrangements.
