Orval Curtis Kipp – 56 of Mission, OR, died Sunday, May 13, 2012, in Mission. A Dressing Ceremony was held Wednesday, May 16th in Pendleton. Washat Ceremonies were held Wednesday evening at the Agency Longhouse in Mission. The final Seven Songs will begin at the Longhouse Thursday morning May 17th at 7:00 A.M. with a funeral service at the Tutuilla Presbyterian church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow the funeral service at Tutuilla Cemetery in Mission. Send condolences online at www.burnsmortuary.com Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. Orval was born February 19, 1956 in Pendleton. Orval grew up in Pendleton, where he was raised by his grandmother Anna Minthorn Wannassay. He attended Pendleton High School and graduated from Chilloco Boarding School in Oklahoma, he then served the U.S. Air Force. Orval's home was with his sister Roberta and his mother Wilma. Orval loved to travel, went hunting and fishing, and was the favorite uncle of his sister Mitzi's children and grandchildren. Orval went to the Longhouse each Sunday for Washat Services. He enjoyed dancing in the arena at the Wildhorse Pow Wow. Orval walked many diverse and challenging paths on his life journey. Orval's relatives included the Looking Glass Nez Perce heritage and the Yellowhawk CTUIR heritage. Orval lived in California with his sisters while they attended college. He attended Pow Wows with them in Arizona and California as he used to dance. Orval's childhood was partially spent at Celilo Falls with his father's family who fished there. He is survived by his mother Wilma, sister Mitzi, her children and grandchildren: Paula Kris, her children Easton & Jonni, Andrea Jose Talia, great-grandchildren: Leo, Anthony, Aiden, Ayanna, and Curtis, great-granddaughter Illyanna, Cristina, D'andre and Joaquin, Tiffany, her children Tyler & Jalissa, Troy, his children Jaelynn & Kiana, his sister Roberta, her son Robert LaTonia and children Robert Jr., Chyanne, Natalia, Jasmine and Alaina, his sister Alfreda, brother Darrell Jody, children Charlie, Desmand, Karma, Damon, Desiree, Tasha and Elaina, brother Marion "Peewee", daughter Marida, his sister Roselle and children Casmere and Donell. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Anna Minthorn Wannassay, his father Leander Kipp, sister Vivian, and brothers Stanford and Erwin. Orval's challenging paths never caused him to lose his sense of humor. Orval ended his life journey on the Rez and now will begin new journeys with all his relatives who have gone before him.

Mitzi and family, I'm so very sorry for the loss of Orval. He was always a nice man to me and I always made it a point to say hello when I'd see him. He will be missed at the powwows and just being seen around. You all are in my thoughts and prayers!

To the family and friends of Orval Kipp he was a quiet man but when u talk to him he told some stories. he will be missed around town walking and mission standing at the four corners. He was a long time veteran and he will be missed by so many people. condolences to the family and friends of Orval Kipp.

Underneath the rough and dishevelved appearance was a man with a tender heart, who is now resting in peace. Too many people judge on appearances sake. I saw a man that had kindness and love within. Respectfully, Trudy
