Jack L. Cook - a longtime resident of Pilot Rock, died Friday, April 20, 2012 surrounded by his family, at his home in Pilot Rock. He was 84 years old. Graveside funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 27, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. and will be in the Pilot Rock Cemetery in Pilot Rock, Oregon. Viewing will be from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 27, 2012, at Burns Mortuary of Pendleton. Memorial Contributions may be made to the St. Mary's Cancer Center, and may be sent care of Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, P.O. Box 489, Pendleton, Oregon 97801. You may sign the online guestbook, or send condolences at www.burnsmortuary.com Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Cook was born October 22, 1927 in Twisp, Washington. He was the son of Harvey and Nellie Pincock Cook. When Jack was seven years old his father died so he was raised by his mother and step-father, Nellie and Art Gillette. He attended schools in Washington. When Jack was 17 years old his family moved to Prineville, Oregon. Then at age 20, Jack moved to Long Creek, Oregon, and began working in the lumber industry. Jack married the love of his life, Betty Reynolds on July 2, 1950, in Long Creek, Oregon. The family later moved to Pilot Rock, Oregon, in 1957 where they raised three sons, Wayne, Dennis, and Kenny. Jack had worked as a Log truck driver for many years, and had operated Jack Cook Logging from the late 1960's until the mid 1970's. Jack loved his wife dearly, spending the last seven years totally devoted to her care at home and after she moved to Pendleton he spent every day he could with her; showing his family what love and devotion was all about. Jack loved his family, taking family trips and enjoying gatherings. He also greatly enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge #28. Jack is survived by his wife, Betty of Pendleton, sons: Wayne & wife Jeane of Pilot Rock, and Dennis Cook of McNary. A brother, Gordon Cook & wife Mary of Pendleton, a sister, Janet Morris & husband Dallas of Stanfield. Seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Zada, a brother, Harvey, and a son Kenneth.

Betty Cook and family, Jack will be missed by all that knew him. He touched a lot of lives and we are fortunate to have known him. May God be with you in this time of sorrow.
