Gerald "Gerry" M. Copenhaver – a resident of Pendleton, Oregon, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012 in Pendleton. He was 73 years old. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 28th at 11:00 A.M. at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Pendleton. He was born December 29, 1938, in Iconium, Missouri, the son of Irvin and Savannah Copenhaver. He graduated from Bend High School in 1956. He went to work for the Woolworth Company in Bend, Oregon, in 1956 and was quickly promoted from stock boy to assistant manager, and finally regional manager. He relocated his family from Portland, OR, to San Francisco, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Indianapolis, IN, and finally settled in St. Louis, MO. He left the Woolworth Company in the mid 1970's to open two Ben Franklin Craft Marts. Gerry was a well respected and well liked businessman in St. Louis. He became an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, and enjoyed spending as much time as possible on the golf course. In 2003 he sold his stores and moved to Pendleton, Oregon. In 2004 he opened Heart of the Home, a custom picture framing business. It was Gerry's passion to preserve people's memories and heirloom possessions through his love of framing. He is survived by: his sister and brother-in-law Carolyn and Terry Carty of Pendleton, OR; his son Ken Copenhaver of Marysville, WA; daughters and sons-in-law Kelly and John Kirchofer of Mount Vernon, WA; Nancy and Joel Reeves of Shoreline, WA; grandsons: Blake Zueger of Lake Stevens, WA, and Brandon Zueger of Silver Lake, WA, granddaughter Amanda Zueger of Mount Vernon, WA; nephew Matthew Carty of Forest Grove, OR, and niece Stacey Nelson of Pendleton, OR. The family thanks the people of Pendleton for the love and compassion they showed Gerry. Dear Dad, I will miss watching baseball with you and our Saturday morning talks. If a person could create the perfect picture of one's life, it wouldn't be complete until you've framed it.
