Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Anthony Hospice, and may be sent care of Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, P.O. Box 489, Pendleton, Oregon 97801. You may send condolences or sign the online guestbook at www.burnsmortuary.com Mr. Hart was born March 9, 1922, in Grandview, Washington. He was the third child born to Wm. Everett and Louise Audelia Paden Hart. He was raised in Mabton, Washington, where he attended all twelve years of school. He graduated with the Class of 1940. He excelled in scholastics and sports. Bob left home at the age of 18 to work for the Oregon Highway Department. In August of 1941 he married his sweetheart, Bette Ruth Parfitt of Sunnyside, Washington. She traveled with him throughout the state until they settled permanently in Pendleton in 1943. They were truly partners in the business world and he was lost when she passed away in February of 2000. Bob was drafted into the United States Army in 1945, and enjoyed a stint in Japan where he came to love the Japanese people, particularly the children. He spoke often of giving his rations of candy to the kids. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he served in the National Guard as a heavy equipment operator. Although Bob worked many full-time and part time jobs in order to support his family, he most notably was a millwright for the Iglehart Mills for many years, and owner-operator of Dobyns-Hart Pest Control from the late 1950's until he sold the business shortly after the passing of his dear wife and beloved employee Brad Stuvland. He recently expressed how the joy had gone out of the job after Bette and Brad passed. While in that industry, he had served as the Chairman of the NW Pest Control Association and was often a keynote speaker sharing his great knowledge of coyote and ground squirrel control and later his expertise in the fumigation of grain ships. In the late 1970's and 80's he and his crew fumigated all the grain ships heading to China from the entire west coast of the United States. In his retirement, he kept busy: going to his office daily, managing his rental properties, drinking coffee with his many friends and enjoying his children and grandchildren. To those who knew him, he was a kind, generous and extremely optimistic man. Bob served his community as a lifetime volunteer at the Pendleton-Round-Up, a member of the Elks Lodge, the Eagles Lodge, the VFW, the Oregon Pest Control Association, and the NW Control Association. Bob loved children and animals, and was a soft touch for donating to many worthy causes. He is survived by: two brothers; Roger Hart of Yakima, Washington, and Bill Hart of Kennewick, Washington, sons Mike Hart, and Bob "Perk" Hart, both of Pendleton, a daughter, Suzie Rawe and husband Larry of Hermiston, and a daughter-in-law, Linda Robinson of Pendleton, ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and very dear friend and soul mate, Jean Cook of Pendleton. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, two brothers, his beloved wife Bette and his youngest son Steve Hart.

It saddens me to see Bob go. My Dad Tuck Hodgen and Bob were the closest of friends. His boys Mike and Perky are good friends of mine as well. They are a great family. Bob has taken care of our pest problems all of my life with a smile. Thank you Bob, and God Bless.

I remember Mr. and Mrs. Hart but I was a friend of Bobby and a classmate of Mike and I have just gotten online and got into this website by trial and error my condolences to the Hart family. I talked to Bobby when I was in Pendleton at my mom's place just before I moved her to Albany to live with me. She died Dec. 17. 1997 x
