Brody Mathew Bensel was born Feb 20, 2008 in Pendleton, OR, to Kassie Stern and Ryan Bensel. He was a special kid from the moment he was born-six weeks early, to the end of his battle of Krabbe's disease. His smile was enough to light up the entire room. After diagnosis the smile was gone from his face, but he smiled on the inside and that was all we could ask for. He touched the entire town of Pilot Rock and many more friends all over the world. He loved his Mom and Dad so much; though he was never able to show it, we all knew it. Survived by his parents Ryan Bensel and Kassie Stern, grandparents; Roberta Muth, Brenda and Kelly Bensel from Pilot Rock, OR, and John Muth from Bakersfield, CA, great-grandparents; Don and Jan Bensel, and Bill and Lynn Liebe, aunts; Katie Stern, Shawna Muth, Ellen Muth, and Kristen Bensel, uncles Justin Bensel and Gary Muth, and many cousins.

Psalms 91:14-16 KJV 14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. 15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. 16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

Matthew 18:1-5 KJV 1 At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? 2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, 3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. 4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.

Bensel family: I only met your sweet baby boy once-during a medical procedure we preformed but, he was absolutly a gorgeous and good baby boy. You, Kassie, were there and were so sweet and kind even though you were facing such hard and difficult times. My heart goes out to you and your family. My niece passed away when she was 4 from a rare genetic disorder and so I have a small instance of your pain. I am so very, very sorry and pray that angels are all around you at this time. Your baby boy is a true angel in heaven.

While I don't know you personally and never met Brodie I wish to extend my heartfelt sympathy to you in your loss. I went to school with Kelly and Brenda and received a call from my mother asking for prayer for your son. I can only imagine the pain you are experiencing in losing this precious little boy and pray that the Lord is a comfort to you as you endure this trial. May you receive the comfort and strength you need from our Saviour, Jesus.
