Bette Jean Light - a resident of Pendleton passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2010 in a Pendleton Hospital. She was 91 years old. A memorial gathering is planned for the spring. She was the daughter of Frederick and Mary Morehouse McKibbon. She was raised and educated in Oakdale, and graduated from Oakdale Union High School in 1937. She then attended Modesto Junior College and received her Associate of Arts degree in 1939. She had also attended San Jose State College and San Francisco State University. She married James Wilson McDill Light on January 9, 1942. She had lived in several areas including: Cheyenne, Wyoming; Belmont, California; Denver Colorado; and Seattle, Washington, before coming to Pendleton in June of 1981. She was a homemaker who dedicated her time and energy to raising her family. She had been a member of the Eastern Star and an Advisor with the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She greatly enjoyed crafts, crocheting, reading, gardening and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Jim Light of Pendleton, one son, James S. Light, of Seattle, four daughters, Kathy Ashley of Pendleton, Babette Cook of Longbranch, Washington, Pat Holt of Port Orchard, Washington, and Robyn Sherman of Pendleton, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters.

I send my sincere wish for the family of Bette Light to find peace and comfort through this sad time. May all of you remember the good times shared through her 91 years with you. Soon sickness and death will be things of the past. Revelation 21:3,4

Cathy and family your mom was a wonderful person and she brought many smiles to me. Your family is wonderful and my thoughts and prayers are with you. I will miss giving her a bad time when she comes to the office so I can poke her eyes!!!! hugs and prayers... Tammy
