William "Bill" Arbogast - a resident of Dale, Oregon passed away on Friday, March 5, 2010 at a care facility in The Dalles, Oregon following a long illness. He was 85 years old. Graveside Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the Olney Cemetery in Pendleton, Oregon. Contributions in memory of Bill Arbogast may be made to the Long Creek Ambulance Fund, and may be sent in care of Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, PO Box 489, Pendleton, OR 97801. Sign the register book at www.burnsmortuary.com Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. Bill was born on August 26, 1924 in Ritter, Oregon to Elmer L. and Hazel Balance Arbogast. He was raised in the Ritter/Dale area and attended school in Dale, Oregon. He worked on his father's farm after school and evenings, tending cattle, raising grain and hay. He also broke horses for riding and driving. In 1943, at the age of 18 Bill enlisted into the United States Army, and served his country during WWII. He was honorably discharged from service in April of 1946. He married Charlotte "Bobbie" Curtis on November 8, 1946 in Walla Walla, Washington, they then moved to Dale, Oregon. The couple had two daughters. They had owned and operated the Dale Store/Bill's Garage and Saw Shop. Bobbie preceded him in death in April of 1989. Bill was a member of the Oregon Lions as well as the Fraternal Order of the Elks. He loved hunting and fishing. Bill is survived by his daughters Dusty Harris of Dale, OR, and Carol Arbogast of Portland, OR, sister Lila Mitchell of Hood River, OR, one grandchild, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded by his wife of 42 years Bobbie Arbogast, his parents Elmer and Hazel Arbogast, and two brothers Norman "Skinny" Arbogast and Leonard "Tuffy" Arbogast.
