Bernadine M. "Tex" Sheoships – a longtime resident of Pendleton died on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Evergreen Health Center in Milton-Freewater, Oregon. She was 63 years old. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Monday, November 16, 2009 at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Pendleton, Oregon. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at St. Andrew's Catholic Mission in Pendleton, with burial following at St. Andrew's Cemetery. Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is handling arrangements. Bernadine was born on June 5, 1946 in Pendleton, Oregon to John and Dorothy Miles Sheoships. She was raised in Pendleton, where she graduated from Pendleton High School. After high school she attended Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, KS, where she completed the culinary program. After graduating from Haskell, she started working if different diners, starting out at Vern's Café, later the Downtowner. She had lived and worked in Topeka, Kansas for 38 years before returning home to Pendleton in 2004 where she worked for the Wildhorse Hotel in the laundry. Tex was a Wildhorse Silver Card Member. She had enjoyed playing sports, especially baseball. She enjoyed cooking, family get-togethers, visiting Wildhorse Casino, but mostly she enjoyed visiting with family and friends. She was also interested in martial arts and history. She had been a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church. She is survived by her brothers; Leon D. Sheoships of Thornhollow, OR, and Emmett Sheoships of St. Andrew's Mission, OR, sisters; Anna Sheoships, June Shoeships, Erma Sheoships and Alva Sheoships all of Pendleton, OR, Alma Sheoships of Adams, OR, and Harriet Bott of Athena, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Dorothy Sheoships, one brother Orville Sheoships and one sister Clara Mae Sheoships.

Loving memory for my sis, a great caring for others especially the younger bunch. She always looked out for her own as well as others. A big hearted person; sis you will be missed.
