Adolph Joseph Melendrez

July 20, 1920-October 16, 2017

 

Adolph Joseph Melendrez 97, of Pendleton passed away while sleeping on October 16, 2017.  Adolph was born July 20th, 1920 in Denver, Colorado to Manuel & Flora (Casados) Melendrez.   He was a middle child amongst 18 siblings. Adolph was the beloved father to three children Loretta, Elizabeth, and Adolph “Sonny” Jr.

He was a World War II veteran. He was part of the infantry that stormed Omaha Beach. Adolph farmed until his early 90s.  He loved boxing and coached local boxing groups in his free time.

He is survived by his daughters Loretta and Elizabeth; grandchildren John and Javier Vigil and Manuel Melendrez along with numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by all of his siblings; his son Adolph and granddaughter Renee Melendrez.

There will be a Funeral Service on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at 1 pm at Burns Mortuary of Pendleton. There will be a graveside service following with Military Honors at Olney Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
