James David Fitzpatrick, Sr. – a resident of Pendleton, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2011, of a massive heart attack while preparing for a hunting trip with his nephew. He was 67 years old. Recitation of the holy rosary will be conducted on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 7:00 P.M. at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Pendleton. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Pendleton, followed by interment at Olney Cemetery. James was born on January 3, 1944, at home in Rusk County, Wisconsin, to Donald and Mary Noyes Fitzpatrick. He attended grade school at St. Andrew's and attended high school in Everett, Washington. In the early 1970's, and until 1983, Mr. Fitzpatrick had been an amateur boxing coach with the Red Shield in Spokane, Washington, where he trained his son and nephew. Some of his boxers were National Champions and Olympians, and some even went on to be professional boxers. He also coached 9 and 10 year old little league baseball. Jim had worked as a Journeyman Meat Cutter and a Truck Driver, but was a Direct Sales Representative most of his life. Jim's home door was always open to any and all kids. His children have been quoted as saying that he was "father to us when he didn't have to be". James is survived by his wife Irene Fitzpatrick, at their home in Pendleton, children: Twyla Johnson of Pendleton, OR, Raymond Fitzpatrick of Pendleton, OR, Barbara Art of Richland, WA, Pebbles Fitzpatrick of Pilot Rock, OR, Earlene Brown of Pendleton, OR, David Fitzpatrick of Rexburg, ID, Larry Fitzpatrick of Pendleton, OR, Tonya Fitzpatrick of Phoenix, AZ, and Ralph Fitzpatrick of Amarillo, TX, a sister, Rose Wiseman of Pendleton, OR, 26 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald & Mary Noyes Fitzpatrick, his brothers: Donnie Fitzpatrick, Tom "Bub" Fitzpatrick, Joseph Fitzpatrick, Michael "Mick" Fitzpatrick, and Dennis Fitzpatrick, a sister, Margie McBean, two grandsons and a great-grandson.
