Born the youngest of four children on September 9, 1953 to Derald W. and Benice Baysinger in Arcata, California, Doc moved with his family to Oregon in 1958. Following an outstanding high school career that saw him earn varsity letters in four sports, Doc graduated from Weston High School in 1971 and attended Willamette University on a full athletic scholarship in both basketball and baseball. After settling back in the region, he married Marna Peer in 1979. Doc worked a variety of jobs in and around the region, including a stint as Helix High School girl's varsity basketball coach. For the past 10 ears he was a civilian contractor with the Army, a job that carried him from Arkansas, to Oklahoma, and Nevada as well as a 6 month tour in Iraq. A man who never met a stranger, Doc enjoyed the socializing and fraternizing that accompanies all sports, especially golf. Along with his wife, Doc enjoyed traveling, fishing, fine food, a good book, good music and spending time with friends and family. Warm, sincere and perpetually friendly and optimistic, he always began his phone calls with either a paternal "Hey, Buddy" or a loving "Hi, Honey". Doc Baysinger was preceded in death by his father and his older brother Arnold. He is survived by his mother Bernice and step father Bud Farmer, both of Pendleton, brother Larry of the Tri-Cities, sister Joyce Kraling of Pendleton, his wife Marna, his three step-children: Eric Feldman of Portland, Kristina Wells of Vancouver and Marisa Remington also of Pendleton and their families, including 7 nephews and nieces and 7 grandchildren.
