William Rogers II Obituary

William Rodney Rogers II, age 80, went home to be with his Lord Jesus on October 31, 2025.

Rod was born on September 5, 1945, in Pendleton, Oregon, to William Rodney Rogers and Marjorie Rogers. After graduating from high school, he attended Northwest Christian College in Eugene, Oregon, where he met the love of his life, Toni. Following their graduation, Rod and Toni were married on August 6, 1966, in Kent, Washington.

In 1967, they moved to Rushville, Indiana, where Rod began his ministry at Rushville Christian Church. While in Indiana, they welcomed their two children, Gina and Rod III. Over the next several years, the family served in various communities—Madras, Oregon; Forest Grove, Oregon; and Deer Lodge, Montana—before settling in Hoquiam, Washington, in 1980, where Rod pastored Hoquiam Christian Church.

After 24 years in pastoral ministry, Rod and Toni decided to take a break and return to Pendleton to be closer to family. Rod began working at the Eastern Oregon Training Center, serving individuals with special needs—a role later shared by Toni. Rod served there for 18 years, retiring in 2008. Though he stepped away from full-time ministry, his calling to serve others never ceased. His compassion and generosity have blessed many family members and friends – often in his own unique ways. He continued to maintain friendships with many former residents, often inviting them into his home or surprising them with gifts.

Rod was always on the move—working on projects, staying active, and lending a helping hand wherever needed. In 2021, his health began to decline, but his spirit remained strong. On October 13, 2025, he suffered a cardiac arrest and was airlifted from Pendleton Hospital to St. Mary’s Hospital in Walla Walla, Washington, where he spent three weeks in the ICU. During that time, his family and medical team witnessed God’s miracles firsthand. Though doctors had little hope, Rod began to recover, showing renewed strength and inspiring everyone around him. He was later transferred to a rehabilitation facility in Tualatin to be closer to his children. However, God had a greater plan and was ready to welcome His faithful servant home.

Rod is survived by his loving wife, Toni; daughter, Gina; son, Rod III; daughter-in-law; granddaughter; grandsons; and his siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Marjorie Rogers.

Following the funeral service, a graveside service will be held at Olney Cemetery at 11:30 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life gathering and lunch at his residence: 2801 SW LaDow Ave. Pendleton OR 97801.
