Mom’s Obituary / Eulogy

Valetta Luvern Davis, 95 years old, died in Klamath Falls, July 18, 2025. Her funeral will be held at the Adams Community Church on Saturday August 2, 2025 at 10am.  Valetta was born March 30, 1930 in Leavenworth, WA to William Henry & Luvern Gammond.  Valetta married Ned Eugene Davis in April 30, 1948, they lived their entire married life in Pendleton, raising four children, John, Patricia, Betty Rae and James.  She was a “stay at home mom” until all her children were in grade school, then she joined the work force as a bookkeeper for JC Penney’s, then switched to selling advertisement for the East Oregonian paper and KUMA radio station until she retired at 62 years old.  Valetta was actively involved with all her children’s activities and she treasured time spent with family and friends.  She attended Adams Community church for years with her brother Paul and sister-in-law Arla.  Valetta enjoyed baking, sewing and crocheting, gifting her family and friends with many presents of baked goodies, which were received with glee.  In Pendleton, she was known as the “Cinnamon Roll Lady”.  Valetta made hundreds of crocheted afghans for family and friends, the afghan most treasured was the Old Glory Flag afghan.  Valetta was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Ned E. Davis, mother, father and older brother, Buster.  She is survived by her four children, John Davis, Longview, WA; Patricia Gohlke, Klamath Falls, OR; Betty Rae Pappe & her husband Patrick Pappe, Klamath Falls, OR; James Davis, Pendleton, OR; Four Grand Children, Six Great Grand Children; Brothers, Melvin Gammond & Paul Gammond and his wife Arla, and numerous nephews and nieces.
