Thomas Kligel Obituary

Thomas A Kligel June 29 1946 –March 13 2022 Thomas A Kligel, 75, passed away Sunday, March 13 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Pendleton, Oregon. Tom was born in Pendleton, Oregon in 1946, the son of Carl and Marian Kligel. He was one of 7 children. He graduated high school at Gonzaga Preparatory, Spokane, Washington in 1964. After high school he enlisted in the Third Division US Army Medical Company as a surgical assistant in Okinawa. He was honorably discharged in 1967 where he continued with his education in business administration from Blue Mountain Community College. He received his BS at the University of Oregon in 1972. Tom started his career in accounting in local banking, Davis Ranches, Pendleton ESD, retiring from City of Boardman as the City finance director. He was currently involved with Pendleton Round-Up Association and a dedicated member of Pendleton City Club and chamber of commerce Ambassadors. Tom loved to be outside, in his free time he enjoyed dedicating his time to little league making sure the facility looked good for kids to enjoy the game in a safe environment. Tom was very involved for over 40 years within the city of Pendleton volunteering and coaching in Little League, Youth Basketball, and other youth activities. Tom enjoyed playing basketball every week and was well known for arguable the ugliest shot. If you were to ask him about it he would say “it might be ugly but I can really get hot”. Tom’s dedication to the youth of Pendleton was praised in 2001 when he received the Governors Physical Fitness Award from the State of Oregon by Governor Kitzhaber and Pendleton Mayor Ramig. Tom is survived by three children; daughter Tana Kligel Teel (Chad Teel) of Prosser, WA, and sons Patrick Kligel (Becky Kligel) of Las Vegas, NV, and Todd Kligel of Pendleton, Or; his 7 grandchildren, Payden and Keeley Teel, Cora, Magnolia, Dashiell, Jayhen and Tripp Kligel; sister Judith Kligel Parker and brother Danny Kligel. A Rosary will be held Friday March 25th at Burns Mortuary at 7pm Catholic Mass service will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Pendleton on Saturday March 26th at 10am followed by a military honors graveside service at Olney Cemetery and celebration of life at Roy Raley Room at Pendleton Round Up grounds.
