Shirley Jeannette Johnson Pulley passed away gently on October 23rd, 2024, in the loving company of her oldest daughter and her husband in Pendleton, Oregon. Born May 31st, 1936 in Oakland California to Lena Walcott Johnson and Jeppe Peter Johnson, she was raised with her brothers Robert Jeppe Johnson (Bob) and Malcom Henry Johnson (Mal/Rusty).
Shirley met her husband Louis James Pulley on a blind date while he was serving in the Navy. They married November 5th, 1955, in Reno, Nevada and moved to Rieth, Oregon where Louis took a job at the Lumber Mill. Shirley and Louis were blessed with their oldest daughter Sandra Lee Pulley (Sandy Murphy) and youngest daughter Nancy Jean Pulley (Nancy Peterson) whom Shirley stayed home to raise throughout their school years. Shirley and her best friend and sidekick Phyllis Newtson had many adventures delivering newspapers and raising their children together in Rieth before Shirley and Louis moved to Pendleton, Oregon. Once their daughters were grown, Shirley and Louis enjoyed many adventures camping and traveling as members of the Blue Mountain Good Sams and the Paradise Club and made many treasured friends along the way with whom they raised over $40,000 for the Dornbecker Hospital and over $60,000 for Cancer Research through their efforts collecting cans and bottles.
Shirley left behind her loving husband, Louis James Pulley, just shy of their 69th wedding anniversary. She is survived by her first daughter Sandy Pulley (Murphy) and husband Duane and their sons Jacob Murphy/Bri and their children Jaren and Liam, Thomas Murphy, and Jeffery Murphy/Talya and their daughter Zella.
