Robert Nelson Obituary

Robert Daniel Nelson, Jr 61 died on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at a hospital in Vancouver, Washington, after a long battle with arthritis.  Robert was born on November 6, 1961 in Toppenish, Washington to Robert D. Nelson, Sr. and Joan Crawford.

Rob grew up in the Columbia River Gorge and as a teen, Rob fished commercially with his stepfather and brothers. After completing high school, Rob worked for the forest service fighting fire. He planted trees across the United States for the forest service.

Rob is preceded in death by his father, Robert Nelson Sr. and his stepfather, Roy Watlamet, who are both World War II army veterans; brothers, Stanley Smartlowit Jr. and James Francis Umtuch; and sisters, Maria Nelson Garza and Ramona Smartlowit. He is survived by his mother Joan C. Watlamet (Lyle); his brothers Steven Nelson (Lyle) and Phillip Watlamet (Celilo); and sisters, Mona Cree (Federal Way), Vicki Nelson (Lyle), and Sandra Nelson (Lyle); as well as several nieces and nephews.

  Dressing Services will be held on Monday, December 5, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.  Rosary at the Agency Longhouse at 6:00 p.m. followed by Washat Service at 7:00 p.m.  Final Seven at 7:00 a.m. Longhouse and burial at Agency Cemetery.
