Marcia Jean Brown, 74, was born in Pendleton, Oregon to Kenneth and Audrey (Craig) Brown, and raised in Stanfield and Hermiston where she attended school. Following completion of her schooling she relocated to Pendleton where she has resided under the auspices of Horizon Project, Inc. for many years. Marcia worked for some years in housekeeping at Red Lion Hotel, at the Horizon Project’s Workshop, and has been an active participant in ARC and local Special Olympic activities and competitions.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, Ken and Audrey Brown and her stepmother Melba Brown. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn (Kitty Brown) and Peter Decker of Cordova, TN; her brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Judi Brown of Monument, Colorado; nieces Alison Decker (Stephen) Scott of Birmingham, AL, and Lindsay Brown of Monument, CO; nephew KC (Renata) Decker of Atlanta, GA; three great nieces and three great nephews. She is also survived by her aunt, Betty Campbell of Meridian, ID and numerous cousins.
The family extends special thanks to Deborah Dougherty, Pendleton site manager and management staff of Horizon Projects, Inc., and her special caretakers and friends, Angie Benzel, Traci Hallos, and Cherie Dedra who helped Marcia live life to its fullest.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, October 1, at Burns Mortuary of Pendleton from 4-6pm. Marcia was a long-time member of the Peace Lutheran Church congregation; the funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, at Peace Lutheran Church in Pendleton to honor and celebrate Marcia’s life. A graveside service will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery at 1pm. Family, friends, and community members are invited to attend these services.
