Lillian Adelia Burns (Jones) 8/5/1942 - 1/11/2022 Lillian was born at St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton, Oregon on August 5, 1942, to Bert W. Jones and Elizabeth W. Jones. She graduated from Pilot Rock High School in 1961. Then, went on to attend Oregon Institute of Technology (Klamath Falls, OR) where she trained to be a dental assistant. Lillian lived in Portland, Oregon for many years. She worked for an electronic wiring company (OWECO), and took refresher courses on dental assisting. She also met and married Roy “Ron” Burns. Lillian moved back home to the Umatilla Indian Reservation with her family. She worked for 25+ years at Yellowhawk Tribal Health Center as a dental assistant (retired in approx. 2009). During her retirement, she served on the tribe’s Enrollment Committee. Lillian and her husband Ron were huge supporters to the Nixyaawii Community School athletics. She enjoyed cheering and supporting her grandkids in everything they did. They would travel to basketball games near and far. Lillian was also a life-long participant in the Pendleton Round-Up and Happy Canyon. Lillian's remaining family include her son, Timothy Burns and brothers: Paul Jones, Charlie “Chuck” Jones, Wesley Jones and Calvin “Dino” Jones. Her sisters: Lydia McKinzie (McComb,MS), Linda Jones, Brenda Shippentower, LynnSue Jones, and Janice Jones. 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild (all in Pendleton, OR). Lillian’s preceded family include her husband Roy “Ron” Burns, her parents Bert and Elizabeth Jones, children Shawna Burns and Lance Jones, siblings William Jones, Cynthia Smartlowit, Pamela Jones-Harrison, and Michael Jones.
