Leila Donavon Spencer-Wagenaar will be remembered for her fierce love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. Her sudden passing has left a deep and profound loss for all who knew her.
Leila was also a gifted singer whose beautiful voice could move people to tears. Through her singing, she brought comfort, emotion, and spirit to those around her, leaving lasting memories for everyone fortunate enough to hear her.
She dedicated her life to her family, her people, and the values she believed in. Leila impacted generations, inspiring those around her to stand strong, advocate for themselves and for Indigenous rights, and to meet life with courage and determination. She was known for always being there when needed, offering support, guidance, and love without hesitation.
Her greatest joy was her family. Time spent with her loved ones was central to her life and brought her deep happiness and fulfillment. Through everyday moments and family gatherings alike, she created memories that will be cherished always.
Leila’s warmth, spirituality, and fierce love leave an irreplaceable space in the hearts of her family and community. Though her passing was sudden, her legacy of strength, love, and advocacy will continue through those she leaves behind.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Wagenaar; her daughters, Brittainey, Briana and Brosnan Spencer; her siblings, Leslie LeCornu and Joshua Spencer Sr.; her mother, Marcella Spencer; her grandchildren Lucious, Meadow, Roman and Trinity Spencer and Donnie, Micah, Deacon, and Marcellus Stewart. She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Spencer.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
