LaVonna Rae Griffin-92, of Pendleton passed away on November 3rd, 2025 surrounded by family.
LaVonna was born on December 15th, 1932 in Yuma, Colorado. Throughout her childhood she lived in Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon and California. LaVonna met Delbert V. Griffin at Gem State Adventist Academy in Caldwell, Idaho, graduating from there in 1950. They married in 1951 and in 1952 Delbert was drafted into the army. While in the army they lived in Virginia, Texas, Washington and Californian. In 1953 they welcomed their first son Delbert E., followed by Keith, Don and Dan.
In 1955 they moved to Pendleton, Oregon. While her kids were young she was a homemaker and did in-home child care. She worked for Harris Pine Mills until 1991 and then worked for CAPECO until her retirement.
LaVonna liked to go camping, beach combing and rock hunting with her family. She had many collections including but not limited to dolls, shells, crystals, rocks, decorative bells, stamps, marbles and Christmas villages. She really enjoyed putting puzzles together with family. She played musical instruments such as the piano and the accordion. As members of the Pendleton Seventh-Day Adventist Church, LaVonna and Delbert were both dedicated staff members of the Pendleton Pathfinders, a youth group in which multiple generations have been involved with over the years.
LaVonna is survived by her sons Keith (Pam) of Pendleton, Oregon and Dan of Kuna, Idaho. Eleven grandchildren, many great grandchildren and even great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Alice Groves and Lester Kruse, husband Delbert V. Griffin, sons Delbert E. Griffin and Don Griffin, granddaughter Heather Griffin and daughter-in-law Maria Griffin.
LaVonna’s celebration of life will be held at the Pendleton Seventh-Day Adventist Church on December 20th, 2025 at 2pm.
