Kathie Nooy Obituary

Kathie Nooy, age 68, of Pendleton, Oregon, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025 surrounded by family. Though we are devastated, we are so grateful for the years we were blessed to share with her. Her smile, laughter, and generosity touched everyone who knew her.

Kathie was born on July 16, 1957 in La Grande, Oregon to Jerry and Duveen Schubert. She spent her first few years on a family cattle ranch in North Powder, where her love of the outdoors began. Her family moved to Pendleton in 1965 where she would live for the rest of her life. It was in Pendleton that she fell in love with horses and as a kid spent much of her free time riding.

Family was at the heart of everything Kathie did. She married her high school sweetheart, Bob Nooy, in 1979. Together they created a wonderful home and raised two children, Erin and Brian. Kathie cherished her time with her five grandchildren and could often be found in the gym or on the athletic field watching them play. Some of her fondest memories were of trips to Greenbay to watch the Packers with Brian and his wife and to Yellowstone with Erin’s family.

Kathie’s favorite place was at their family cabin in the foothills of the Elkhorn Mountains and she loved to camp and fish with Bob. Kathie was an athlete and a cowgirl. She was a round-up princess in 1977 and queen in 1978. Kathie was a pioneer for women’s sports at Pendleton High School following Title IV. She was recognized for these efforts by the Pendleton Linebacker’s Club when she was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2022.

Kathie was well ingrained in the community working for 30 years at US Bank Pendleton Branch, for 20 of those years she was the branch manager. Her leadership won her several boss of the year awards as well as awards trips to Florida. Many in the community remember working for her or having her as their banker.

Kathie is survived by her husband, Bob Nooy, her children Erin Brisbin (Matt) and Brian Nooy (Candice), her grandchildren Hadley Brisbin, Mercer Nooy, Axel Brisbin, Sloan Nooy, and Sutton Nooy, as well as her sister Jerri Lynn Beeman and her brother Mike Schubert.

A celebration of life will be held on December 13, 2025, from 1-3pm at the Pendleton Round-up Grounds Roy Raley Room. Friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and find comfort in one another. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to PanCan.org in Kathie’s honor.
