John Schwarz Obituary

John D. Schwarz November 12, 1953 – December 24, 2023

Beloved Husband, Dad, Opa/Grandpa, Uncle, Great Grandpa, Great Uncle, Brother, Friend and Storyteller, was called home to eternal rest in the Lord Jesus on Christmas Eve morning.

While he had been on dialysis for a while the massive coronary took everyone by surprise, including the doctor who was listening to his jokes and stories moments before.  He left suddenly and unexpectedly but will live forever in the hearts and memories of those who loved him.

He was born in Idaho where he grew up with 3 brothers, two of whom proceeded him to eternal rest.  He attended Concordia Lutheran College in Portland Oregon where he met Lorinda Anderson.  They married in 1976 and had 48 years together raising 5 children, leading to 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandsons.

He received a BA in Human resource management but spent most of his career years raising his kids and being there for sporting events, fundraisers, scouting, and many family activities.  He had a passion for rocks and gems and became very knowledgeable in that area attending many rock and gem shows as a dealer.  He also loved fishing and spent many wonderful days at the helm of a trout rod.  He was an active member of the Lutheran Church Mo. Synod and encouraged faith and love for the Lord in his family and many others.  He spent time teaching professionally as well as volunteering in that capacity at Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution.  He loved to travel and had traveled to all 50 States.

Death sucks.  While his family and friends do not grieve as those who have no hope, knowing that we will see him again, we do grieve.  God is giving us great support and resources.  We thank everyone for all your prayers, please continue them.

A Memorial is being planned for later this year, in May.  Family requests that memorial donations be sent to Oregon Right to Life, Bethlehem Lutheran Church Hermiston Oregon Quilters, or The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
