Jeffrey McShane died on December 16, 2025, at Kadlec Hospital in Richland, WA, due to a stroke he suffered earlier in the month. Jeff was the sixth of seven children, born July 30, 1958, to Frank and Peggy McShane in La Grande, OR, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He attended school there, graduating in 1976, and Eastern Oregon College before moving to Pendleton. Jeff married Rachel Lawrence in 1994 and they had a daughter, Maura, in 2007. Jeff was a "Girl Dad" from the moment she was born, and they remained close. Jeff worked at Blue Mountain Sports in La Grande and then took over managing the Pendleton store until its closing. He was an active participant in downtown Pendleton activities. He then went to work at D&B Supply and was part of the team that opened the store. He worked in almost every department and remained with them until his death. He never met a stranger and was always ready to help when needed, whether it was coaching youth sports or simply holding a door open for someone or offering a smile and a "hello" to those who looked like they could use one, which to him was everybody.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel; daughter, Maura; sisters, Rebecca and Maureen McShane; mother-in-law, Brandy Lawrence and brother-in-law, Brady, both of whom reside in Illinois; Rachel's aunt, Kelly, and her son, Shandy; and several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Brian, Mike, Kirk and Greg, as well as his father-in-law Bernie Lawrence. Jeff leaves behind many long-time friends who have provided support for his family during this time. The family wants you to know that you helped make this difficult time a little easier.
