James “Jim” Black ,76, went to be with the Lord on January 10th 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
James M Black was born December 16, 1946 to James E and Donna June (Brown) Black in Fort Collins, Colorado. Jim and his family moved to Athena and later to Pilot Rock where he graduated high school in 1965. After graduating, he enlisted in the Navy. He proudly served in Vietnam from November 1967 to November 1970. Returning from the Navy, he married his first wife Sandy and had his first son, Alex. He later divorced. In 1981 while living in Vancouver, WA. Jim married his second wife, Andi, and had a son Sean and daughter Heather. In 1989 the family moved back to Pilot Rock, where he worked for Masonite until it closed in 2000. In 2000 he went to work at EOCI, retiring in 2010. Andi passed away during this time in 2004. In 2005 Jim married his third wife, Sherry, who had two sons giving Jim two more sons, Kevin and Jason. He absolutely loved his family and friends and loved spending time with them. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, and anything outdoors especially if it meant he got to be with family. Jim believed family was the most important thing in the world, saying “always treasure your time with loved ones and never forget to tell them how much you love them.” His family was his pride and joy. Jim loved the Lord and knew he had a place waiting for him in Heaven. Jim’s passions were watching football, westerns and cartoons with his grandchildren. He always had a sparkle about him, a smile that could light up any room, and a wonderful sense of humor. Jim was a loving dad, grandpa, husband, brother, and son.
Jim was proceeded in death by his father James E. Black, mother Donna June Black, second wife Andi Black, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his wife Sherry Black of Pilot Rock, son Alex (Jennifer) Black of Pendleton, son Sean (Kristy) Black of Pilot Rock, daughter Heather (Josh) Endersby of Pilot Rock, son Kevin (Kathryn) Morse of Florida, and son Jason (Sherry) Morse of Nevada, 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, sister Amanda (Ernie) Dumond of Pilot Rock, brother Glenn Black of Pennsylvania, sister Mildred (Jay) Wardle of Idaho, Aunt Wanda Jones of Heppner, Aunt Ina Spencer of Pendleton, loving pets Sheba and RT, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and loved ones. Jim’s family would like to thank the Vange John Memorial Hospice of Hermiston for his care. At his request, there will be a celebration of life this Spring. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Jim’s name to PAWS, Vange John Memorial Hospice of Hermiston or Pilot Rock Food Pantry.
