Ivan McClellan Obituary

Ivan “Bud” McClellan, 84, of Pendleton, Oregon, passed away peacefully on November 13th, 2025. He was born on March 10, 1941, in Blackfoot, Idaho, and was raised on a farm along Tutuilla Road just outside of Pendleton.

At the age of 18, Bud enlisted in the United States Navy, beginning a 20-year career of dedicated service to his country. While serving, he met the love of his life, Maxine Ruth McClellan, who would become his wife and lifelong companion. Together, they built a family grounded in love, loyalty, and shared adventure.

During his military career, Bud served aboard several aircraft carriers and completed multiple tours, proudly serving during the Vietnam War. His time in the Navy took him across the world, but no matter where he was stationed, Pendleton would call him home.

After retiring from the Navy, Bud and Maxine returned to Pendleton, where he began a second career with Safeway, working there for 25 years before retiring once more. Known for his quiet strength, steady work ethic, and good-natured sense of humor, Bud was respected by all who knew him.

Bud is survived by three of his four children: Miki Sykes (Kyle), Carl McClellan (Julie), and Tim McClellan (Mindy); his grandchildren Chris McClellan (Stephanie), Tani Dickinson (Josh), Kimberly McClellan, Patrick Havens, and Nico Havens; his great-grandchildren Sophia, Kaden, Kinsley, and Kaliyah and his sister Carla Cooper (Dave).

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maxine, with whom he shared more than six decades of marriage; his daughter Lynda Kinney; his sister Marlene, and his brother Tom.

Bud will be remembered for his lifelong devotion to family, his service to his country, and his steadfast character. His legacy of humor, love, and perseverance will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.

A private service for family will be held in his honor.
