Helen F. Hesterlee, age 83, of Pendleton, Oregon passed away on August 14, 2023, at her home. She was born on December 26, 1939, in Mansfield, PA, to the late Dennis and Harriet Colegrove.
Helen was a loving and dedicated mother to her three daughters, Lori Kreitzer (JR) of Middletown, OH, and Katherine (Tracy) McQuown of Hermiston, OR. She adored her grandchildren, Matthew Kreitzer (Katie) of Hermiston, OR, Kelli Kreitzer of Middletown, OH, Andrew (AJ) McQuown of John Day, OR, Jayson McQuown (Mandie) of John Day, OR, Zachary Bowman of Klamath Falls, OR, and Ashley Bowman (Brandon) of Hermiston, OR. Helen also cherished her great-grandchildren, Khira & Caydance Kreitzer, Ryan & Mason Miracle, Kaylee & Paityn Ross, Cheyenne Clark, Phoenix & Ace McQuown, Rillie Mitchell, Skylrr & Hunter McQuown, and Julia Campana. She is also survived by her brothers, Lloyd (Joyce) Colegrove and James (Dot) Colegrove of Pennsylvania, sisters, Betty Mason of Tennessee, and Jessie (Chauncey) Cline of Maryland, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Gary Hesterlee and youngest daughter Sherry Bowman.
Helen proudly served her country in the Army RA WAC from 1957 to 1960. After her military service, she was dedicated to raising her girls. Later she pursued a career as a Lunch Lady at various schools in Hermiston and Pendleton. Helen's dedication to her family was evident in her love for writing letters and cards, which she sent through "snail mail."
In her free time, Helen enjoyed reading, going to casinos, spending time at the Oregon Coast, and enjoying quality time with her family. She was a true family-oriented person who cherished every moment with her loved ones.
A private family service is planned to honor Helen's life and legacy.
