George Boltz Obituary

George Philip Boltz was born August 4th, 1942 in Rosebud South Dakota and died peacefully May 19th, 2025 in Walla Walla Washington surrounded by family, he was 82.

George was born in Rosebud South Dakota and shortly after, moved to Igloo South Dakota with his family where he graduated in 1960. He was arguably one of the best basketball players to ever come out of Provo High School in Igloo.

George went on to college in Spearfish South Dakota where shortly after he was drafted into the United States Army. He did his tours in Vietnam and in coming home his family had moved to Hermiston Oregon where George had ended up in Pendleton Oregon where he resided for 55 years. George had worked at the State Hospital until he ended up at the United State Postal Service for 25 years. After retiring, George became one of the first security guards at Wildhorse Casino where he put in another 10 years. 

George was a great soul and who loved his family to the fullest. He enjoyed playing golf and the video poker machines with a couple of beers. George loved listening to music which he had a great taste for. His memory for remembering what year and month they came out was impressive. Especially for the 50s and 60s

George is survived by his wife, LaVora Boltz of Pendleton; his son Brian Boltz of Pendleton; his son Brandon Boltz and his wife Abby Boltz of Meridian, Idaho; his brother Dave Boltz and his wife Denise Boltz of Irrigon, Oregon; his sister Sharon Kaping and her husband Tyler Kaping of Hermiston, Oregon; his sister Jan Boltz of Seattle, Washington; his step-daughters Susan Peterson of Fossil, Oregon and Sheri Hale of Homedale, Idaho. George had four grandchildren; Daysen Boltz, Gannon Boltz and Bodhi Boltz of Meridan Idaho and Rhyelle Boltz of Tri-Cites, Washington. Step-grandchildren include Justin Buckley, Kiley Conery and Logan Hale.
