David Haddock Obituary

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of David Lee Haddock.

“Dave” passed away on January 31st at the age of 88. He lived a life full of devotion to family, dedication to hard and honest work, and service to the Christian community. He loved the outdoors and spent his free time camping, hunting, fishing, rock hounding, and playing in the woods any time he could.

Dave was born in Bly, Oregon to Hugh and Orpha Haddock in 1936, the youngest of four boys. The family eventually moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon, where they remained until after Dave graduated High School. It was there that Dave met the love of his life, Wilma “Nell” Geston, marrying her in 1958 and remaining married for the rest of his life.

After graduation from High School, Dave joined the United States Navy serving as Ships’ Electrician on the U.S.S. Hornet at the end of the Korean War, receiving an honorable discharge in 1958. After returning home, he married his beloved Nell and then attended Oregon State University obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering then to Washington State University where he completed a Master’s Degree in Transportation Engineering.

In 1965 he joined the United States Forest Service as serving as District Engineer and Transportation Officer on many districts throughout Oregon and Washington eventually retiring after 30 years of service. Never one to be idle, David then opened a private land surveying practice where he continued to work for many more years, finally retiring at the age of 75.

Dave and Nell were married 66 years at the time of his passing. They had four children, eight grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. Sharing a mutual love for the outdoors, they continued to pursue these interests and passed their affinity on to their family.

Dave is survived by his wife, Nell Haddock, his children Steve Haddock and wife Janet, Beckie Rogers and husband Rod, grandchildren Scott, Sean, Kodria, Ben, Joe, Andrew and Matt, and their families, his Sisters-in-Law Faith and Verla, and many beloved Nieces and Nephews and their families. In passing he joins his parents, Hugh and Orpha Haddock, his brothers Gerald, Herald and Glen, Sister-In-Law Ara, Daughter Marilea, Son Boone, Grandson Chris, Niece Cheryl and many beloved friends.

Donations in his memory can be made to The Gideons International specifically to purchase Bibles for distribution.
