Dale Lance Douglas, born on December 26, 1957, in Porterville, California, passed away on April 15, 2025, at the age of 67 after a long battle with cancer. At the time of his passing he resided in Union, Oregon, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service.
Dale devoted 50 remarkable years to his career as a wildland firefighter, a testament to his commitment and resilience. His work not only protected the environment but also saved countless lives and properties, earning him respect and admiration within his community and beyond. That community began in Porterville, California where he resided from his birth until 1990 when he moved himself and his family to Ukiah, Oregon. He would live the remainder of his years in this area of Eastern Oregon that Dale felt was God's Country.
Known for his warm and caring heart, Dale was a mentor and friend to many. His door was always open to those seeking guidance or support, and he was ever ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. His presence was a source of comfort and strength for those who knew him.
Dale was a spiritual man, finding solace and inspiration in God and in God's country. His beliefs were reflected in his actions and his approach to life, embodying kindness, compassion, and a deep sense of responsibility to others, both human and animals.
Preceded in death by his mother, Opal Douglas; his father, Sherrel Douglas; his brother, Michael Douglas; and his beloved wife, Linda Douglas, Dale is survived by his sister, Kathy Whitton. He leaves behind his cherished children: Tricia Douglas of Long Creek, Oregon, Malissa Wurtz and son-in-law Travis Wurtz of Pendleton, Oregon, Brianne Blackwell of Laytonville, California, and Quentin Auther of La Grande, Oregon; 11 precious grandchildren, and 1 great grandbaby as well as many many nieces and nephews who will all continue to honor his memory and legacy.
A service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, June 7th, 2025, at Emigrant Springs State Park, 65068 Old Oregon Trail Hwy, Meacham, Oregon at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a man whose life was marked by love, service, and unwavering dedication to those around him.
