Charles F. Showaker

Charles  F. Showaker, 87 was born on May 15, 1936 in Riverside, Ca. to parents Fred & Margaret Showaker.  They lived on the family farm in California, along with his brother Joe, who came six years later.

In 1948 the family moved to Molalla, Oregon.  Charlie & Papa as known by family and Chuck by many others graduated from Molalla High School in 1954.  After high school he joined the Reserves, then the Navy with an Honorable Discharge in 1961.  After his service he attended Mt. Angel College graduating in 1965.  After graduating college, he moved cross country, ending up in Chicago for some time, before returning to Oregon.  Later in his career he worked for Oregon State Employment Division in Medford, Oregon, as Manager and then eventually Manager of the Oregon State Employment Office in Pendleton.

In 1977, he met and married Linda Worrell Hinkley of Pendleton and became an instant parent of three teenage kids. 

After retiring from the State of Oregon, he worked various parttime jobs, from the prison mailroom to process server for Umatilla County Sheriff’s Department, which he did until after he turned 80.  Charlie was a lifelong member of the Lions Club, and other clubs like the Order of Antelopes and knights of Pythias.  He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Fred & Margaret Showaker.  His wife, Linda Showaker in December of 2020.  He is survived by his children Lisa (Kevin) Knox of Pendleton, Juli (Ron Miller) Gessesse of Keizer, Oregon, Bruce Hinkley of Windsor, Co.  Brother, Joe (Lynetta) Showaker, in laws Barbara Gossett Zeigler (Gary), Walt (Colleen) Worrell, Vicki Perkins & Patti Worrell.  He has many grandchildren & great grandchildren, nieces & nephews, who loved him dearly.  Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Olney Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
