Cecil A. Maness of Pendleton, Oregon was born on March 30, 1943, in Cedaredge, Colorado to parents Grace & Rodney Maness. He passed away on August 18, 2023, in Pendleton, Oregon at the age of 80.
Cecil went to grade school in Reith, Oregon and Junior and High school in Pendleton, Oregon graduating in 1961. After graduating he attended Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton where he graduated in 1963 with a degree in Auto Mechanics. Cecil also served in the Army National Guard from 1964 to 1970 being honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant.
Cecil met and married Sharon Ainsworth on July 23, 1965 in Pendleton, Oregon where they raised their 2 daughters. Cecil’s career as an auto mechanic was from 1963 – 2008, where he worked for Mel Winter VW, Comrie Olds and the City of Pendleton.
Cecil enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery, camping, motorcycles and skiing in the winter. After retiring in 2008 Cecil enjoyed Cowboy Action shooting and attended several competitions.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, Rodney and Grace Maness and his wife, of 57 years, Sharon Maness. He is survived by his daughters, Julie Hileman and Susan Baird; brothers Frank Maness and Ken Caufman; grandchildren, Dalton, Lacey and Rachel Baird along with Christopher Hileman; also several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Suttle Care and Van John Memorial Hospice for taking such good care of Cecil during this time.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 2pm at Burns Mortuary in Pendleton; followed by a graveside service at Skyview Memorial Park, just outside of Pendleton. Donations may be made in honor of Cecil Maness to Kickin Cancer New Beginings at P.O. Box 1362, Pendleton, OR 97801.
