Carmen graduated from Hermiston High School in the early 50s. She briefly attended dental school in Seattle, Washington, before returning to Pendleton to take care of her father.
She met her husband, Ramon (fondly called Ray to all the family), while working swing shift at Eastern Oregon State Hospital. They married in February and lived in their first home on Frazier Street in Pendleton with their cat, Tigger. They were married for 24 years before Ray’s passing in 1997.
Carmen spent her remaining years in Pendleton, providing support to her mother until she passed in 2013.
Everyone who knew Carmen knew she was a lover of cats. Contributions in memory of Carmen may be made to the Pendleton Animal Welfare Shelter (PAWS) in lieu of flowers.
