My dearest family- I'm so sorry to hear about Uncle Louie's passing. He was an inspiring man who always had a lesson to teach and taught me to be proud of who we are as Indian people. He as well as many before him including my Grandma Emma taught us the importance of our culture and traditions. For them I am grateful. To Auntie Butch, Lance and Dallas, my thoughts and prayers to you and the family as you start the healing process. I love you all very much and know that I'm thinking of you during this difficult time. May he be at peace now with Arleta and the other ones we have lost.

I remember Louie playing sports at McEwen High School. He played football, basket ball, and ran track. He was trim and graceful, and ran with the grace of a deer. Later in life, Louie came to The Dalles, OR and spoke of Mother Earth at a noon luncheon of The Dalles Chamber of Commerce. He was very committed to keep Mother Earth in the condition that we found her! Louie was a true ambassador for the Indian way of life. He made his mark in our lives, and will be remembered with respect.

What a teacher! I learned a tremendous amount from Louie and will always be thankful that on my journey our paths crossed at Harmony Workshops and AIANEA conferences with the NRCS USDA. I have a tremendous respect for his ability to add humor to those lessons that I remember to this day. My appreciation for the Creator's natural resources gifts was enhanced by Louie's teachings. Louie was a blessing in my life and I want to thank his family for sharing him with many of us over the years.
