She grew up along the River and resided in different areas around Yakima, Washington. She married Stephen P. Sohappy in 1959 and raised their children in Pendleton, Oregon. Rose was an avid sports fan and enjoyed traveling to tournaments, camping outdoors, crafting and beadwork, yard sales and community events. She enjoyed watching all or her grandchildren in activities, she loved to laugh and tease, always had a beautiful smile. She loved the mountains whether she was gathering foods or taking a drive. She always stayed connected with her family and friends here and on the Yakama Reservation. She was teacher to many. She is survived by her husband, Steve Sohappy of Cayuse, Oregon and her children Vivian Shaw, Vincent Sohappy and Van Sohappy of Pendleton, Oregon, Valerie Shock of Yakima, Washington and grandson, Dominique “Dom” Sohappy of Pendleton, Oregon and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many friends. Thank you my dear relative for being such a beautiful lady to us when we needed to hear your words and encouragement from elder Steve to move on during times of Prayers.

I am praying for your journey home to be with loved ones who has taken you home.

I pray for your mate and your children and grandkids to be strong during this time because it’s already done, crying isn’t gonna bring you back, drinking isn’t gonna bring you back and running away from responsibilities isn’t gonna bring you back either. I believe your mate is the only one who knows where you have gone and done with your work here and is sad to till he meets with you again after his works done. He expressed that to all Longhouses to all us left behind to be ready at all times and be strong for this day because we are not promised today we could go home anytime. Thank you for all your help and love Rose and I am grateful for all the company you gave us during feast, memorial dinners and just being you Rose God Blessing you now and taking care of you now Rest In Peace.

Dear SoHappy Family...Shaw Family,...George Family...
Vivian, Your sweet mama,...and Winona SoHappy George, your Auntie, has always been a kind and compassionate person to me as I grew up, moved away, grew older, returned home, and inquired about the rest of your families as we passed at frequent yard sales. Beautiful in person as well as in spirit she was a role model for me as a young woman, and sincerely admired as I struggled to work and raise just two children, two sons. My heart and mind is with you in prayer at this time of loss, but knowing the Christ in a personal relationship will ease your pain and give you comfort and understanding that you have been truly blest to have a parent, and Auntie, in your life for this many long years, with love.
