James Jerrod Woodward, resident of Pendleton died August 7, 2018 at his home. He was born April 10, 1939 to Don A. Woodward and Ethel (Brown) Woodward in Pendleton, Oregon. He grew up in Helix, Oregon with his two sisters, Sharon (Woodward) Lienhart, and Diane (Woodward) Nelson. He attended Grade School in Helix and then went to Pendleton High School. He then attended Washington State University receiving a degree in Agronomy and Agricultural Honorary. James served in the National Guard during the 1960’s. He married Martha Vance Woodward December 26, 1964 they were married 52 years when she passed away. He was the fourth generation to farm in the Helix, Oregon area. His Great Grandparent on both sides of the family Homestead in the 1870’s. He farmed wheat and was a member of the Oregon Wheat League. When he was you he young he enjoyed hunting and fishing with the family, other hobbies he also enjoyed were collecting stamps and playing the stock market. He also enjoyed traveling to The Oregon Coast, the Bahamas and Mexico. He is survived by his sister Diane Nelson, and Diana Zacharias, which was Jim’s caregiver and friend for 8 years. Her children Kaleb 21, Erin 15, and Jenna 10 were like grandchildren to Jim. Sharing special occasions and trips to the Oregon Coast as family. He is preceded in death by his parents Don & Ethel Woodward, sister, Sharon Lienhart and his wife Martha Woodward. A Memorial service will be held for both Jim & Martha Woodward Monday, September 17, 2018 at 11:00 am. Service will be held at the Mountain View Cemetery in Walla Walla, Washington.
