Sandra (Sandy) June Tolleson Rose passed away on December 11, 2017, following months of fragile health and surgery for a broken hip suffered in a fall.

Sandy was born to Bill and Audrey Tolleson on September 8, 1945, in Anniston, Alabama. She moved with her family to Eastern Oregon when she was 6 years old and later graduated from Ukiah High School in 1963.

Horses, fishing, travel and the love of a gypsy life found Sandy living all over Oregon and other places such as Hawaii, Colorado and Wyoming. During these adventures she found many friends and had loved many people. Through this love Sandy had three children: Eric Carlos of Athena, Oregon, Lechell Carlos of Pendleton, Oregon, and Les Kannier of Pendleton, Oregon.

By trade Sandy mostly focused on being a talented barber and a no-nonsense bartender. Her quick wit and tough persona were very helpful in these careers over the years. Sandy traveled light and lived for the moment. Her stories could fill a book, she followed her own path, and now, she can finally rest. She was loved and will be missed.

She is survived by her sister Charlotte Symons of Terrebonne, Oregon; her three children; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

At Sandy’s request, there will be no service. Friends who wish to honor her memory may donate to Burns Mortuary or a charity of choice.

A special thanks to those who were there for Sandy during her end of life journey. You are a blessing.

In closing, a quote from an author I do not recall, but surely a mantra Sandra June lived by: “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ‘Wow! What a ride!’”
