Brandon Lewis Spencer

January 14, 1976 - August 21, 2017

Brandon Lewis Spencer of Pendleton, OR walked on to the baseball field in the sky. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Brandon was born in Pendleton, OR to the late Chester "Sparky" Spencer and Ruth Spencer. He attended Washington and McKay Elementary School where he formed lifelong friendships. While growing up, Brandon developed a love for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also loved athletics such as; wrestling, football, basketball and baseball. Brandon attended Pendleton Junior High School and Pendleton High School. He continued his passion for sports in playing football, basketball and baseball for PJHS and PHS. As Brandon grew, he found his niche as a pitcher. Throughout his baseball years, Brandon idolized Fernando Valenzuela since they both threw left handed. On the mound, he often referred to himself as FerBrando. He continued to develop his craft as a pitcher and excelled for the Pendleton Buckaroos. Brandon earned the nickname "Giant" because despite his small stature, he lived his life and played his game big. During his senior year, Brandon earned all-star selections within the Intermountain Conference and was also selected to play in the State Metro-League All-star game. Brandon earned multiple varsity letters for his athletics including the 1994 Mark Leach MVP Award for baseball. Brandon then went on to play baseball for Mt. Hood Community College. Brandon also attended Blue Mountain Community and Lane Community College.

Brandon is known for his laugh and affectionate smile. He truly cared for all of his friends and family. He especially cared for his children, nieces and his nephew. Brandon was dedicated to attending his family's athletic events and made sure they knew he was present to support their efforts. Brandon was also an avid outdoorsman. He was frequently in the mountains, hunting or "cruising". He was also rarely without his fishing pole stashed in his car as he could hardly resist being on the river when the fish were running.

Brandon is preceded in death by his father, Chester "Sparky" Spencer, uncles Warren Spencer, Marilyn 'Mar' Spencer, Vernon "Babe" Spencer and Lester "Bub" Spencer. He is survived by his mother, Ruth Spencer; brothers, Brent and Brad Spencer; children, Aubry Spencer, Kaitlyn Spencer, Korie Spencer and Chaynne Spencer, and his nieces and nephew.

Ruth, so sorry for you loss. It's always hard when you lose a child. May God give you strength through this difficult time. My Grandmother always said "it's not right that your children pass before you". I understand now, how true that statement is. My sincere condolences.
